Volunteers play an integral role in the service delivery of the Community Justice Society.  The vision and mission of the agency is best served by active participation of Community Volunteers. The skills acquired by volunteers through the Community Justice Society are transferable to everyday life and if you care about youth and would like to make a difference within your community while gaining work experience, enhancing your career objectives, developing new skills or maintaining existing skills, and pursuing a long term or new interest, then you should consider volunteering for one of the many positions available.

Volunteering for the Community Justice Society empowers you to:

  • Work with youth from diverse cultures
  • Work with victims affected by crime
  • Facilitate Restorative Justice Processes as youth, victims, and community representatives start their journey of restoring relationships and the moral bond of the community
  • Provide mentorship for youth on an individual basis

For volunteer positions at the Community Justice Society, volunteers must be 19 years old and undergo a screening process that includes a Criminal Records Search, a Child Abuse Registry Search and an interview with the Coordinator of Volunteers. In addition, volunteers must be prepared to commit to a two year commitment.

Volunteer Positions
There are four key volunteer positions available for qualifying interested community members. All volunteers are accountable to the Coordinator of Volunteers who is responsible for training, performance assessments, feedback and support. Prior to commencing the volunteer training programs, all volunteers must complete the screening process and attend a three hour Orientation of the Community Justice Society.

Given the complexity of each volunteer position, the amount of training provided by the Community Justice Society varies to ensure a success in the role of the volunteer.
